Hot Yoga Summer Solstice Class this Weekend.

The longest day of the year deserves something memorable.Β  A Special 108 Hot Power Yoga classΒ for the 9:30AM Saturday June 20th in Brecksville and the 10AM Sunday June 21st in Strongsville. We’re celebrating the summer solstice with a 108 Sun Salutations practice, a moving meditation that honors the sun, the season, and the steady work of showing up.

If the number 108 sounds like a lot, that’s the point. But it’s also more accessible than it sounds. Here’s what the tradition means, what the class actually feels like, and how to claim your spot.

What 108 means

In yoga’s contemplative traditions, 108 is a sacred number. It’s the count of beads on a mala, the string used to keep track of breaths or mantras during meditation. Practitioners move bead by bead, repetition by repetition, until they arrive somewhere quieter than where they started.

A 108 Sun Salutation practice borrows that same rhythm. Instead of counting beads, you count rounds, each one a small offering, each one moving you a little deeper into focus. It’s a practice of devotion and persistence more than performance. You’re not chasing a finish line. You’re settling into a rhythm and letting it carry you.

Summer Solstice Yoga

What to actually expect

Let’s be honest: 108 rounds is a real practice. But we’ve designed this one to be challenging and survivable, for every level, not just the advanced.

Here’s how it works. We move through the 108 in four quarters of 27, mapped to the arc of the sun across the sky:

  • Dawn -we open with intention and find our rhythm
  • Morning Climb –we build heat and strength
  • Zenith -the peak, held with gratitude
  • Sunset -we soften and begin to release

The practice peaks in the middle and eases toward the end, so the hardest stretch isn’t waiting for you at mile 26. We also blend full and half sun salutations throughout. The half salutations are your built-in release valve, a way to keep moving and stay in the rhythm without redlining. When you need to take the shorter version, you take it. That’s not stepping back; it’s practicing intelligently.

A few more things to know:

  • The heat moves with the sun. We start hot and build through the climb, then progressively cool the room after the peak, so as you ease into the second half, the temperature comes down with you. The room mirrors the arc of the day.
  • We open with a dedication. You’ll set a sankalpa, an intention or someone you’d like to dedicate your practice to, and carry it through all 108 rounds.
  • We close in stillness. Savasana includes a brief guided yoga nidra, so you leave as settled as you arrived energized.

All levels are welcome. If you can move and breathe, you can do this. Modify freely, rest when you need to, and let the room carry you.

Why the solstice

The summer solstice is the year’s turning point, the longest day, the highest sun, the moment before the light slowly begins to draw back in. Cultures around the world have marked it for thousands of years with fire, gathering, and gratitude.

108 Sun Salutations is our version of that ritual. It’s a way to honor the season, mark the halfway point of the year, and do it together as a community. There’s something powerful about moving through a hard, beautiful thing in a full room of people all breathing in the same rhythm. You’ll feel it.

Logistics

When: Saturday June 20th and Sunday, June 21
Where & time:

  • Brecksville: SaturdayΒ 9:30 AM Hot Power Yoga Class.
  • Strongsville: Sunday 10:00 AM Hot Power Yoga Class.

Length: 75 minutes

What to bring: Your mat, a towel (or two), and plenty of water. Come a little hungry rather than full, you’ll be moving for over an hour. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in and set up.

This is a special class and spots are limited by mat space, so reserve ahead rather than dropping in.

A few common questions

Can beginners really do this?

Yes. If you can move and breathe, you can do this. We blend full and half sun salutations, and the half version is always there as your release valve. Move at your own pace, rest when you need to, and let the room carry you.

What if I can’t finish all 108?

That’s completely okay β€” and more common than you’d think. The goal isn’t to grind out every round; it’s to settle into the rhythm and stay present. Take child’s pose anytime, rejoin when you’re ready, and count the practice a success.

Do I need to have done a 108 before?

Not at all. Many people in the room will be doing their first. The structure β€” four quarters, a peak in the middle, an easing finish β€” is designed to guide you through whether it’s your first or your tenth.

How is this different from a regular Hot Power class?

It’s longer (75 minutes), more meditative, and built around repetition rather than a peak-pose sequence. The room also starts hot and progressively cools as we flow, so the experience changes under you as you go.

Reserve your spot

Whether 108 is a personal milestone or just a meaningful way to spend the longest day of the year, we’d love to practice it with you.

Meet you on the mat.
