Celebrating 10 Years: Honoring Suzi + Mary Beth

“Yoga is a life practice, not an exercise class.”

As we celebrate 10 years of practice, growth, and community, we’re taking time to recognize two of the teachers who have helped shape what this space is today—Suzi and Mary Beth.

Like many teachers, both began their journey not with the intention to teach, but with the desire to go deeper.

“I love the way yoga makes me feel,” Suzi shares. “I wanted other people to be able to feel the same way.” What started as a personal practice—especially during a time when life felt difficult—became something essential. “I did it for myself… which made it even more important to me.”

“It starts with your breath—your anchor.”

Mary Beth echoes a similar beginning. “Like many, I went to teacher training to take a deeper dive into yoga, rather than to teach,” she says. But when the opportunity arose, it felt natural to share. “It’s always been my personality to share good news with others.”

Over the years, their practices—and their perspectives—have evolved.

For Suzi, yoga comes back to one thing: breath. “When I practice yoga, I breathe deeply and slowly—that’s how I find peace and calm.” The physical practice is secondary. The real work is learning how to stay grounded through challenge. “Your breath is a tool… it’s what you take with you when you find things in life that challenge you.”

Mary Beth’s relationship to yoga has expanded far beyond the mat. “The practice is SO much the same, and SO different as well,” she reflects. With decades of life experience woven in, yoga has become something broader, more integrated. “It’s a reminder that yoga is a life practice, not an exercise class… and still such a work in progress.”

What connects both of them is a shared belief in simplicity and presence.

“You don’t have to create a complicated class to impress anyone,” Suzi says. “Just teach a simple sequence… and allow students to move, breathe, and find flow.”

Mary Beth offers a complementary perspective:

“Use your yoga practice to get to know yourself.”

Beyond the shapes, the practice builds awareness—something that carries into everyday life in subtle but meaningful ways.

Their advice to students reflects the depth of their experience.

“It starts with your breath, your anchor,” Suzi reminds us. “If you can get through difficult movement, you will learn to use your breath… to work through difficult things in life. Don’t give up—it’s practice.” And perhaps just as importantly: “Protect your peace.”

Mary Beth’s guidance is both simple and powerful: “Maybe I can.” A quiet shift in mindset that opens the door to possibility, growth, and resilience.

Both teachers continue to show up as students themselves.

Suzi returns to her mat regularly, drawn to the clarity she finds in breath and heat. Mary Beth speaks to the discipline it takes, especially when practice feels challenging in a different way. “Sometimes, knowing you’re going to ‘feel things’ is a reason to avoid the practice,” she admits. “I have to muster up some discipline.”

Outside the studio, their lives are rich and full—and deeply connected to how they teach.

Suzi finds joy in family, gardening, creating, and time outdoors—spaces where she feels grounded and at peace. Mary Beth splits time between Ohio and the mountains of North Carolina, where nature, community, and simplicity offer a different rhythm. “It makes you approach your schedule and days differently,” she says, embracing both solitude and connection.

After all these years, their reasons for teaching remain rooted in something genuine.

For Suzi, it’s about sharing what she loves and offering tools that support real life. For Mary Beth, it’s something even deeper. “For me at this point, it’s a bit of legacy,” she says, honoring the teacher who once guided her. “I hope to do the same for someone.

This is what 10 years looks like.

Not perfection. Not mastery.

Practice. Perspective. Presence.

And a community shaped by teachers who continue to show up, breathe, and share what they’ve learned along the way.
