Special Event: Sound Healing + Yoga Nidra
For the first time, we are bringing two of our most requested specialty classes together in one evening, and we are offering it at both studios. Sound Healing Yoga pairs slow, supported Yin postures with live crystal singing bowls. Yoga Nidra, sometimes called yogic sleep, is a guided practice of deep rest that you do lying down. Together they make a two-hour reset for the body and the mind. No experience needed. All levels welcome. Pick the date and studio that suits you.

Our sound healing events fill quickly, and space is limited so the room stays quiet and comfortable. Reserve early.
Led by Jamie Pantea, E-RYT 500, and Joyce Atherton, Modern Yoga co-founder. Jamie plays the crystal singing bowls live for most of the evening, so the sound carries through both the Yin practice and the Yoga Nidra. Joyce guides the slow, supported Yin postures and leads the Yoga Nidra, and she offers gentle hands-on assists along the way. If you would rather not be touched, just let her know when you arrive.
What is sound healing?
Crystal singing bowls produce long, steady tones that fill the room. While you rest in supported Yin shapes, the sound gives your mind something simple to follow, and your breath and heart rate tend to slow with it. Research on sound-based relaxation suggests it can lower stress and tension, and most people leave feeling noticeably calmer than when they arrived.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided practice done lying down, fully supported by blankets and props. Your teacher talks you through a series of simple prompts: noticing the breath, moving attention through the body, resting in stillness. You stay in the space between waking and sleeping, awake enough to follow along and relaxed enough that the body fully lets go. Twenty to thirty minutes of Yoga Nidra can feel like a much longer rest.
How the evening flows
- Settle in and set up your mat with props.
- Slow, supported Yin postures with Joyce, with Jamie playing the crystal singing bowls live in the room.
- A guided Yoga Nidra with Joyce to close, with the bowls still sounding, followed by a quiet, gentle return.
Good to know
- No sound healing or Yoga Nidra experience needed. All levels and every body welcome.
- Wear comfortable, warm layers you can fully relax in. Bring a blanket or eye pillow if you have a favorite; we have props for everyone.
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to check in and settle onto your mat. The room stays quiet once we begin.
- Plan for a slow, easy evening afterward. This is not a class to rush out of.
If you love YinSauna or the final rest at the end of a Hot Power Yoga class, this evening is built for you. If you have never tried yoga at all, it is one of the gentlest ways to start.
Questions people ask
Do I need yoga or meditation experience?
No. Everything is done lying down or in supported, seated shapes, and your teachers guide every step. Complete beginners are welcome.
What if I fall asleep during Yoga Nidra?
It happens all the time, and it is fine. The practice is designed to keep you right at the edge of sleep. If you drift off, you will still get the rest. If you start snoring, we will gently wake you. Not a big deal.
What should I bring?
Yourself, comfortable warm clothing, and water. We provide mats, blankets, bolsters, and blocks. Bring an eye pillow or a favorite blanket if you like.
Can I use my membership or class pass?
This is a ticketed special event, so it is booked separately from regular classes. Pre-register online for $35, or pay $45 at the door if space remains.
Which studio should I choose?
Whichever is closer or fits your calendar. Strongsville is Saturday, Oct 10 and Brecksville is Saturday, Oct 24. Both run 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the same teachers and the same price. If one date fills, the other is your backup.
