JAMIE PANTEA
We’re revisiting Jamie’s Spotlight to catch up on all the exciting things that have happened since we last checked in—and a lot has changed!
The biggest update is that Jamie joined Modern Yoga full time as Studio Manager and Lead Instructor in July 2023—just over two years ago. Since then, she’s found it incredibly rewarding to spend more time in the studio, teach more classes, and connect more deeply with the community.
Jamie has also dedicated a large part of her focus to Modern Yoga’s Teacher Training Program.

“Watching our trainees go through the same program I did has been a really cool experience – I feel honored being a part of their journey and getting to see them grow and find their voices. I continue to learn and grow myself from the time I spend with them.”
Outside the studio, Jamie lives in Brunswick with her boyfriend, Bradley, and their two dogs—Rambo, a 15½-year-old Dachshund, and Vito, a lively 17-month-old Akita/Great Dane mix who’s brought a whole new kind of energy to their home. “Life is always busy for us, but we find the most joy in keeping things simple where we can.”
Any new training or certifications?
Yes! I completed my 300 hour training back in 2023, so I’m now registered as an E-RYT500 instructor. I’ve also received my Yin & Restorative certifications along with some smaller certifications in Meditation, Yamas & Niyamas, and am currently working through an Ayurvedic program which I’m very excited about! Once I’m through the basics I’ll start diving into Ayurvedic cooking, skincare, and women’s hormone treatment.
What inspires you to get on your yoga mat?
I will admit, working at the studios full time has limited my practice. Right now, two things inspire me onto my mat: 1) time 2) our instructors – seeing them attend my classes reminds me that everyone has a life, family, and busy schedule outside of the studio. They remind me of the importance in carving out time for myself…even if it’s just once a week.

Is there a class theme, pose, or intention you’ve been especially drawn to lately?
Anyone who has practiced with me long enough knows my themes and poses change – often! That’s just the ADHD in me :) I have been focusing more on the concept of self study or observation without judgement. The term for this is Viveka, which refers to discernment. Ultimately, the goal is self acceptance…continuing to peel back the layers of ourselves and make decisions that truly align with our own needs. It’s something I struggle with personally and know that I’m not alone. Teaching this helps hold me accountable in my own practice.”
What is one piece of advice for your students?
“I wish I remembered the yogi that said this, but she said it best…”Keep your eyes on your mat and mind your business.” It sounds harsh, like someone’s scolding you but it’s true!! Curiosity is great, but watching others too much in practice often leads to comparison which only takes away from your own insights. Focus on yourself and always do what feels best for you, no matter what it may look like to others.”
What does “success” in your practice or teaching look like for you right now?
“Measuring success in my teaching happens in so many ways. Getting to watch my students leave with a lighter, happier energy than when they walked in – that’s a win for me. Helping someone advance a pose or master an inversion they’ve been working towards, getting someone to understand the benefits of using blocks in their practice and seeing them actually release into the poses for the first time…these are all successes to me. At the end of the day, I’m here for our students…so when they feel a sense of accomplishment in their practice, I feel it too!”
What’s something you’re currently learning (on or off the mat)?
“I haven’t officially started, but it’s next on my list – I want to learn how to play guitar. I recently acquired the acoustic Martin Guitar that my Grandmother used to play in her band (Little Irene & The Dude ranch Boys lol). She bought it at a pawn/thrift shop for less than $20 and it has stayed within our family since. I have a very short lived musical background and I thought this would be a cool way to reconnect with it.
I also have my eyes on a nice set of crystal singing bowls, so I’ll be digging into that soon as well :)”.

What are you passionate about (outside of the world of yoga)?
“Oh that list is neverending. My passions shift with the seasons. I like to be outdoors as much as possible during the warmer months…hiking, paddleboarding, gardening, golfing, literally anything I can take outside I’m happy doing. Colder months I shift into the cozier things, reading, movies, cooking and baking…I pretty much always have some sort of DIY project going on too.”
